A: If one of your parents or grandparents or even great-grandparents was born in Cyprus, you might be eligible for Cypriot citizenship by descent. If you're married to a Cypriot, you may also be eligible for Cypriot citizenship by marriage. We'll help assess your case. Give us a call on +447356262809, send a WhatsApp, or email info@cypriotbydescent.co.uk
A: An apostille is a certificate which is attached to an eligible document by the issuing country to authenticate the signature on the certificate - this is sometimes referred to as 'legalisation'. UK (and other non-Cypriot) certificates (birth, marriage, death, etc.) need an apostille. In the UK, the apostille is attached by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office for a fee. As part of a bespoke package, apostilles can be arranged on your behalf.
A: Generally, if you were born outside of Cyprus after 1960 and you have a parent who is already registered as a Cypriot citizen, you would usually apply for Cypriot citizenship using application M121. If neither of your parents were Cypriot citizens at the time of your birth, you would usually apply using M123. Application M125 is for Cypriot citizenship by marriage once all the eligibility criteria have been met.
There are many factors which might determine the most appropriate application form, so get in contact to discuss your specific circumstances.
A: Most law firms charge significantly more for nationality services and often treat applications as routine form-filling. We offer a personal, one-to-one approach that’s tailored to your exact circumstances. You’ll speak directly to a Cypriot Citizenship Consultant, not a junior staff member; we'll guide you every step of the way.
Our consultants are not solicitors, and we don’t pretend to be. But we've helped clients around the world successfully obtain their Cypriot citizenship through ancestry, descent, and marriage through our expert advice.
We only take on cases where we believe in the outcome, and we never upsell support you don’t need.
If you want experienced, honest, and personal support without inflated legal fees, this service is built for you.
A: Typically, applications for Cypriot citizenship require birth and marriage certificates (yours and your ancestor’s), passports, and identity cards, and certificates to prove your descent from your Cypriot ancestor. We'll give you a personalised checklist as part of the Bronze package tailored to your specific circumstances.
A: The Republic of Cyprus requires applicants to be born in wedlock, or to be legitimised after birth in order to register for citizenship by descent. While this sounds difficult, Cypriot By Descent has extensive experience with the required Paternity Affidavits and can guide you through this process. A: That’s very common — and we can help. Part of my consultancy includes identifying what can be obtained from official archives (in the UK or Cyprus), and advising on acceptable substitutes or secondary proof. We also offer an optional service to help retrieve UK or Cypriot certificates on your behalf as part of a Bespoke package.
A: Yes you can! The Cypriot authorities accept applications from overseas, and we can help you prepare your documents no matter where you live. Get in contact to discuss your specific circumstances.
A: It depends on the type of application and whether your documents are complete. Once submitted, most citizenship-by-descent applications take 3-6 months to process, but we have numerous cases where citizenship was granted up to 2 weeks after submission.
We'll help you avoid unnecessary delays by making sure everything is complete before you submit.
A: If you’ve had a Bespoke service, we offer a money-back guarantee if your application is rejected due to incorrect advice (see T&Cs). We provide honest feedback upfront and will never encourage you to proceed unless we believe your case is viable. You are in control of your application at all times, Cypriot By Descent LTD will never act on your behalf unless specifically agreed and authorised by you.
A: No. You can apply for citizenship by descent if your parent or ancestor was born in Cyprus or was a registered Cypriot citizen. We can advise on your eligibility even if your family left Cyprus generations ago. Get in contact to discuss your specific circumstances.
A: Whilst we have successful outcomes for everybody we've helped so far, no one can promise you'll be successful because the final decision rests with the Cypriot government. We only take on clients whose cases we believe are strong, and we offer a money-back guarantee on Bespoke services if we're wrong (T&C).
A: Yes, they do! The Directorate of Civil Registry in Nicosia publishes citizenship information on its public website, as do the Cypriot consulates all over the world.
However, the information does not come with the practical guidance for exactly how the process works, and all the unspoken elements which can prove difficult to overcome without expert guidance.
Get in touch to discuss your specific circumstances; our services are tailored to your requirements, you are in control.
